AI Plan

We are in the middle of the biggest socioeconomic transition we have ever experienced within a single government term.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a foundation under our economy, society and national security. The countries that develop this technology determine where economic value is created, what information people get to see, and how the technology can be deployed. The Netherlands doesn’t have to become a pawn of other countries — it has everything it needs to be an active player that keeps a grip on its own technology and earning power.
To achieve that, the Netherlands needs to take big steps. Together with Michiel Bakker, Jelle Prins and Renée Frissen, the Delta Institute brought together more than sixty experts to draw up the National AI Plan. This plan, with 52 concrete recommendations, was included in the national government’s 2026-2030 coalition agreement. We are currently committed to implementing that plan, including through the establishment of the ELLIS Institute as a European AI research centre and an AI Impact Institute that informs politicians about the societal effects of AI.
